ESMO and the South African Society of Medical Oncology (SASMO) signed a joint membership agreement in 2017. The aim of the agreement is to promote education and scientific initiatives to the South African oncology community.
ESMO – SASMO Agreement
As of 10 February 2017, members of the SASMO will be able to benefit from a simplified membership application process to join ESMO, avoiding the need for a Sponsor (i.e. details of an ESMO member who supports your application) or the need to provide an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae in English.
ESMO members in South Africa benefit from an annual ESMO membership fee of €50 (online access to Annals of Oncology), due to South Africa being classified by the World Bank as an upper-middle income country, based on the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita and calculated using the World Bank Atlas method.
Additionally, SASMO members who are medical doctors (and ordinarily qualify for the €175 fee), wishing to receive the printed subscription to Annals of Oncology will benefit from a reduced annual ESMO membership fee of €130 - saving €45.
If you are already an ESMO and a SASMO member and wish to receive the printed subscription, please contact the ESMO Membership Services who will update your profile in order for you to be able to benefit from the discounted fee at your next renewal.
