ESMO for World Cancer Day 2024

ESMO supports World Cancer Day (WCD) by adding its voice to the global effort to #CloseTheCareGap.

Committed to reducing the global cancer burden and determined to addressing the barriers that prevent people around the world from accessing the cancer care they need, ESMO renews its support to WCD and its three-year #CloseTheCareGap campaign.

This year - the last one of the #CloseTheCareGap campaign - is about bringing attention to a higher level and challenging those in power and making sure that political leaders understand the public demand to prioritise cancer, create innovative strategies designed to confront inequity and invest resources to achieve a just and cancer-free world.

What is ESMO doing to #CloseTheCareGap?

A Manifesto for a healthier Europe

To give substance to the #CloseTheCareGap campaign, on WCD 2024 ESMO has unveiled its own Manifesto for a healthier Europe: ESMO's evidence-based approach to optimise the Beating Cancer Plan.

The Manifesto outlines 5 areas of intervention identified as crucial for the success of the EU Beating Cancer Plan, always keeping the patients -and their rights- at the centre: prevention; treatment; research; workforce; and crisis.
