Hofheinz Ralf-Dieter

Prof. Dr. Ralf-Dieter Hofheinz was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and studied medicine at the University of Heidelberg, where he graduated in 1998. He then trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University Hospital of Mannheim.

Since 2010, Prof. Hofheinz is Head of the Day Therapy Centre at the University Hospital of Mannheim, Head of the AIO-working group ‘QoL and patient-reported outcomes’ and member of the AIO-task force ‘Colorectal and gastric cancer’. His main fields of research are clinical trials phase I-III, multimodality treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, new drug development, quality of life and PRO and medical history.

Member of the ESMO E-Learning and CME Working Groupsince 2011, Prof. Hofheinz holds numerous national and international professional memberships, such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Central European Society of Anti-Cancer Drug Research (CESAR), the German Cancer Society (DKG), the Working Group for Internal Oncology (AIO) – he has been a member of AIO Steering Committee since 2013 – and the German Society for Haematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO).

Prof. Hofheinz has published 115 original papers, 40 book chapters and 4 books. He is also a reviewer of several medical journals, including The Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, British Journal of Cancer, International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics and Oncology.
