Dr Dario Trapani has been appointed as ESMO’s lead representative in the Healthcare Professionals' Working Party (HCPWP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
The HCPWP, which brings together healthcare professional organizations as well as the EMA's scientific committees, serves as a platform for exchange of information and discussion on issues of common interest between the EMA and healthcare professionals. It also provides recommendations to the EMA and its human scientific committees on medicine-related topics.
As an eligible healthcare professional organization, ESMO has been part of the HCPWP since its establishment in 2013. As such, ESMO collaborated in the joint work of the HCPWP, provided expertise for specific cancer types, and conveyed the views of the medical oncology community on the cancer-focused initiatives of the EMA.
Dr Trapani has been a long-standing member of ESMO and is currently the Chair of the ESMO Cancer Medicines Committee. As ESMO’s lead representative, Dr Trapani will fulfill a key role in driving the discussions in the HCPWP and providing the input of the Society to the workstreams of the Working Party, whilst bringing his knowledge and experience in the cancer medicines domain.
