This new ESMO guideline covers areas that make bone health in cancer patients of increasing clinical importance. Besides describing incidence, epidemiology and clinical consequences of bone metastases and cancer treatment-induced fractures, the guideline provides recommendations in: diagnosis of bone metastases, multidisciplinary management of bone metastases in solid tumours and multiple myeloma, palliative radiotherapy, bone-targeted agents, prevention of skeletal morbidity in metastatic bone disease, safety aspects and special considerations in the elderly
