Oesophageal cancer is the 19th most common cancer in Europe and includes two main subtypes: oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma and oesophageal adenocarcinoma. These updated ESMO guidelines include recommendations for diagnosis, staging and risk assessment and management of local/locoregional and advanced disease, as well as a personalised medicine synopsis and recommendations for follow-up, long-term implications and survivorship.
