Marta Vaz Batista, MD, is a Medical Oncologist at Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca, Amadora, Portugal. Dr. Vaz Batista completed her Master´s Degree in Medicine at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa in 2014, and her residency in Medical Oncology in 2021. She has completed postgraduate studies in Nutrition in Oncology.

Her areas of interest are breast cancer, gynaecological cancer and palliative care.

Dr. Vaz-Batista is one of the authors and the medical monitor of DEBBRAH phase II study, a clinical trial evaluating the role of trastuzumab deruxtecan in patients with HER2-positive or HER2 low-expressing metastatic breast cancer with brain metastases and/or leptomeningeal carcinomatosis. She also collaborates in other clinical trials.  

Dr. Vaz Batista has been published in national and international medical journals and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at NOVA Medical School, Algarve University, Portugal, and online platforms.

She has been a member of ESMO since 2015 and joined the ESMO Educational Publications Working Group in January 2022.
