Eva-Maria Strömsholm is a 41 year old teacher and a practical nurse as well as a rare ovarian cancer survivor and a patient advocate. She has also a masters degree in pedagogy and developmental psychology.

She got a rare ovarian cancer 2008 when she was only 27 years old. After many surgeries and hard chemotherapy she is now a ovariancancer survivor. She talks about the imortance of psychosocial support, help for long-term side-effect from chemo, the need of a rehabilitationplan for every cancerpatient and the support from other beeing in the same situation. Eva-Maria also 2021 got thyreoid cancer and got treatment for that.

She is the co-founder and vice chair of Gynecological Cancerpatients in Finland but also a co-founder and member of the Nordic Gynecologic Patient Organizations Network.

Eva-Maria has for many years been active in many cancerboards and associations in Finland and then also active in Europe and rest of the world. She is The Finnish Cancer Societys counsil member and board member of the Ostrobothnian Cancer Society.

She has been active for many years in ESGO-ENGAGe as a patient advocate and also in Rare Cancer Committee.

She is a member of IGCS (International Gynecologic Cancer Society) Advocacy Committee and a member of WOCC (World Ovarian Cancer Coalition) Oversight Committee for Every Woman Study middle and low income countries. She is an ePAG in EURACAN rare gynaecological cancer domain and she is active patient advocate in many more organizations and associations such as European Cancer Association as a patient representative in their Focus Networks.

Eva-Maria is also doing lectures about how to live as a cancerpatient with a rare cancer and lecturing about psychological support and importance that the healthcare professionals remember rehabilitationplans and help patients with menopausal issues due to chemotherapy and support and help patients who can not get children due to cancer.
