Dr Alison May Berner is a Specialty Trainee and Clinical Research Fellow in Medical Oncology at Barts Cancer Institute where she is undertaking a PhD in cancer genomics. She is also a Part-time Specialty Doctor in Adult Gender Identity at the Gender Identity Clinic London, Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. She provides advice and assessment for gender diverse patients with active cancer or genetic cancer predisposition, and leads a number of research projects related to improving cancer care for LGBTQ populations. She has assisted charities including Cancer Research UK with their patient information for the trans community and she is also a trustee of Live Through This charity for LGBTQ people living with and beyond cancer.
