New Guide for Patient General banner (blue)

Guides for Patients are designed to assist patients, their relatives and caregivers to better understand the nature of different types of cancer and evaluate the best available treatment choices.

Produced by ESMO these guides translate complex medical information into a language understandable to patients. The medical information is based on the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines, which are designed to guide medical oncologists in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment in different cancer types and conditions.

The Patient Guides in Greek language are kindly provided by the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncologists (HeSMO).

Patient Guides can be downloaded or saved into your own library.

These guides are available in the Greek language as kindly translated by the Hellenic Group of Young Oncologists (HeGYO) on behalf of the Hellenic Society for Medical Oncology (HeSMO)

This guide provides information on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on various aspects of cancer care, including possible changes to your treatment plan and appointments, which may be necessary to keep you safe from infection.

Patients with cancer commonly experience pain due to the cancer itself, the cancer treatment, or a combination of both. This patient guide provides up-to-date guidance on the types of treatments for cancer pain and any possible side effects of its treatment.

The Patient Guide on Cancer Pain Management is available in Greek.

This patient guide contains information on side effects associated with modern immunotherapies, known as checkpoint inhibitors, how your oncology team will manage these symptoms, and a few strategies you can use yourself to minimise their effects.

The Patient Guide on Immunotherapy-Related Side effects and Their Management is available in Greek.

Survivorship is a unique and ongoing experience, which is different for each person and those close to them. A key to survivorship is to regain, as far as possible, the important aspects of life before cancer, and to find new pathways to a satisfactory life going forward. The Patient Guide on Survivorship is created by ESMO and ECPC in collaboration with IPOS.

The Patient Guide on Survivorship is available in Greek.
