Fellowship Opportunities

Translational Research Fellowship

Training Experience Required

The candidate should have a strong background in molecular oncology and human pathology. Expertise in cell biology, cellular imaging and tumour mouse models would be positively considered.

General description

GENYO is the first national centre devoted to genomics that integrates Public Administration, University and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical business sector. GENYO is included in the Granada Health Sciences and Technology Park, visualized as a reference area to promote the interaction among basic and clinical research into an university campus.

Expertise

The offered position is in a group working on basic research on cancer trying to consolidate a strong connection with medical oncologists in recognized Spanish hospitals. Particularly this group studies the relevance of extracellular matrix proteolysis during tumour progression and its contribution to neo-vascularization processes. Recent studies are consolidating the existence of tumour plasticity phenomena such as the trans-differentiation of tumour into endothelial-like cells, with relevant consequences for metastasis progression and the appearance of resistance mechanisms to anti-angiogenic therapies.

GENYO is a research center that intends to integrate multidisciplinary research in all its phases, from the generation of knowledge to its development in clinical and pharmaceutical applications, the development of new projects and services for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated to human genetic variability, such a cancer and rare diseases, diabetes, hypertension or degenerative diseases, among others. The centre has been designed with the aim of becoming an international benchmark centre, where excellence research is performed in the space of convergence and interaction of genomics applied to health.

Facilities

GENYO posses a relevant number of facilities including:

  • Genomics and Genotyping
  • Flow Citometry
  • Histology
  • Microscopy and Molecular Imaging
  • Cell Culture
  • General Services

Furthermore, the campus provides facilities for animal experimentation, proteomics and others.
