The ESMO Deep Dive - Upper Digestive Cancers Webinar Series recordings and slides are available to all ESMO Members.
ESMO Deep Dive: Upper Digestive Cancers – Gastric Cancer: From Molecule to Medicine
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in this ESMO Webinar – a deep dive into gastric cancer: from molecule to medicine.
This webinar is developed with the aim to analyse in detail how new genomic technologies such as single-cell analysis can contribute to understanding of intra-tumour heterogeneity in gastric cancer, provide best practice in the treatment of MSI-H gastric cancer and understand how features of chromosomal instability lead to different patterns of oncogene activation in gastro-oesophageal cancers than in other gastrointestinal cancers. Another objective of this webinar is to understand how intra-tumour heterogeneity can impact response to therapy and resistance and evaluate the need for refined biomarker testing approaches to confront the problems of heterogeneity and the features of chromosomal instability in patients with gastro-oesophageal cancers.
We will begin with a lecture on molecular dissection of gastric cancer at the single-cell level. This will be followed by an elaboration on origins and implications of chromosomal instability in gastric cancer. Finally, we will explore from biology to clinical experience in patients with dMMR/MSI-H gastric
cancer. The lectures will be followed by a live discussion, in which the faculty will answer questions received from the audience.
The programme is designed to provide an overview of the latest understanding of immunobiology and its impact on the management for patients with gastric cancer, offer expert opinion exchange and provide some important considerations in this field. I strongly encourage and invite you to register and join us all in this new ESMO activity.

Learning objectives:
- Understand how new genomic technologies such as single-cell analysis can improve our understanding of gastric cancer intra-tumour heterogeneity, which is emerging as a major barrier to clinical management
- Understand best practice in the treatment of MSI-H gastric cancer Immunobiology of the disease
- Understand how features of chromosomal instability lead to different patterns of oncogene activation in gastroesophageal cancers than other GI cancers such as colorectal and pancreatic
- Understand how intra-tumour heterogeneity can impact response to therapy and resistance
- Evaluate the need for refined biomarker testing approaches to confront the problems of heterogeneity and the features of chromosomal instability in GE cancers
