Filippo Pietrantonio is Head of the Gastrointestinal Oncology Unit, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy. He leads a research team involved in developing new therapies for gastrointestinal cancers (mainly colorectal and gastric cancer), and in translational research to identify resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies, immunotherapy and novel agents.
He is Principal Investigator for more than 100 active profit and non-profit trials and is an active member of Steering Committees of several national and international clinical trials. He is an author of more than 350 publications in peer-reviewed journals, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Italian Medical Oncology Association (AIOM) and he is the scientific secretary of the Gruppo Oncologico Noord Ovest (GONO) Foundation – a non-profit organization dedicated to the design and conduct of non-profit trials.
