Young Oncologist initiatives also involve, when possible, local Young Oncologist Committee Members organising specific Young Oncologist Sessions or presentations at a national level.
These presentations will most often give an overview of what you can gain from an international orientation to your career and will contain practical detail about fellowships, working abroad, choosing career path, etc.

2nd Portuguese Master Course in Clinical Oncology
10-14 May 2016, Hotel Villa Batalha - Batalha, Portugal
This course targets residents in the last formative years and young specialists in Medical Oncology and other medical specialties directly involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic process of the cancer patient. The main objective is a general review of the most important topics of Oncology with a clinical orientation, favouring informal discussion between the speakers and the trainees. The course is limited to 20 attendees. Selection is based on a motivation letter and submission of a clinical case abstract, out of which six will be selected for presentation and discussion during the course.

- Wednesday, 11 May - breast and gynaecologic cancer
- Thursday 12 May - urologic tumours and rare tumours
- Friday 13 May - rare tumours (continued), skin cancers and lung cancer

The session was chaired by Matthew Krebs (UK) and YOC member Jesus Corral (Spain)

Young Oncology Days Conference

The programme of this annual event in Slovakia covered all major areas of oncology and is especially oriented towards the young doctors in training or recently qualified as medical oncologists. Joint session SEOM +MIR and ESMO Young Oncologists
ESMO Young Oncologists: Raffaele Califano (UK) – Committee chair, Jesus Corral (ES) – Committee member, and Lotte Moser (PT) participated in a debate session during the SEOM. The session brought together senior members of Spanish cooperative groups (breast-GEICAM, lung-GECP and colorectal-TTD) and young oncologists, to discuss the role of young oncologists in the collaboration groups.

This ESMO session was co-chaired by YOC member Erika Martinelli (IT), who presented 'Beyond EGFR and VEGFR inhibitors: Targeting the RAS/RAF/MEK and alternative pathway in CRC' and spoke about the ESMO Young Oncologists Committee. In the same session, YOC member Camilla Qvortrup (DK) presented on 'The impact on our clinical practice after the drug approval of new targeted agents in mCRC', while ESMO Executive Board member and Educational Committee chair Jean-Yves Douillard spoke about why it is important to invest in Young Medical Oncologists.
