For nearly 100 years, Hadassah Medical Center has been a leader in medicine and nursing in Israel, laying the foundation and setting the standards for the country's modern health care system.

The Hadassah University Hospital-Ein Kerem

With over 130 departments and clinics, Hadassah Ein Kerem provides Israel's most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services for the local and national population and a significant number of international patients.

Profile

The Sharett Institute of Oncology was established at the Hebrew University - Hadassah Medical Center in 1977 as a national institute for the prevention, treatment, and research of cancer in Israel. More than 3,500 new patients are referred to the Sharett Institute each year.

Specialities

The Sharett Institute strives for excellence, reliability, and compassion while treating cancer patients. The Sharett Institute strives to provide the best and most innovative methods available while addressing the special emotional needs of each and every patient. Alongside the administration of standard cancer treatment, our physicians include our patients in international clinical trials and develop experimental and cutting-edge cancer treatment approaches in our Oncology Department. To achieve these goals, the Sharett Institute operates special units that are inextricably linked. These units include infrastructure units, specialized units, and interdisciplinary units.

The palliative medicine service includes an oncologist, a hematologist, two palliative care nurse specialists, a social worker and psychologist. This team is available on call 24/7, while the nurse specialists are fully dedicated for the palliative care service. In addition, this team is a part of the Hadassah Medical Center's palliative care team which includes representatives from anesthesiology (head of the pain unit), nephrology, pulmonology, critical care and neurology.

Oncology care is available by appointment via clinic or day care during work hours or by admission to the oncology department which is available 24/7 to palliative patients experiencing breakthrough needs. As oncology remain the primary care team, access to oncology care is unlimited while the palliative care team is available for consultation 24/7.
