History
East Tallinn Central Hospital has a distinguished history - the treatment of patients at our present location dates back for 235 years. East Tallinn Central Hospital as we know it today, was founded in 2001 through a merger of seven hospitals and policlinics. Our medical fields are divided between seven individual clinics: Diagnostic Clinic, Clinic of Internal Medicine, Eye Clinic, Women's Clinic, Surgery Clinic, Clinic of Medical Rehabilitation and Nursing Clinic. The clinics include centres and departments with a narrower focus on specialties.
Profile
Oncology Centre was established in 2012 and provides systemic cancer treatment and palliative care to all adult solid tumours in outpatient and inpatient unit. The centre's staff consists of more than 40 people including six medical oncologists. The centre offers patients palliative care counselling and has a multidisciplinary palliative care team that is led by a medical oncologist.

East Tallinn Central Hospital provides cancer prevention, diagnostics, surgery, systemic therapy and follow-up care, as well as end-of-life care to patients with oncological diseases.
Highlights of East Tallinn Central Hospital: Eye Clinic has been the Baltic Centre of Ocular Oncology since 1993, covering the treatment of intraocular and orbital tumours in patients from Baltic countries. Urology Centre is the oldest in the field and continues to be one of the largest oncology surgery centres in Estonia. Women's Clinic has a long experience in the treatment of gynecological tumours. Centre of Infertility Treatment offers patients consulting and treatment on fertility, freezing and preservation of gametes before radiation and chemotherapy treatment.
Palliative and Supportive Care
Oncology Centre has a multidisciplinary palliative care team that is led by a medical oncologist. The core team includes two palliative care nurses, a social worker, a psychologist and a representative of Nursing Clinic.
Supportive and palliative care services are provided in close cooperation with other specialists, including pain management clinicians, surgeons, internists, nutrition specialists, specialized nurses (e.g. urology, stoma and wound care), rehabilitation clinicians, experienced advisors and a pastoral counsellor.
End-of-life care is organised and performed in close co-operation with East Tallinn Central Hospital's Nursing Clinic that provides inpatient nursing care, hospice and home nursing service.
