The 2018 forum addressed the question "Could sharing the power foster gender equality in oncology?" discussing the creation of a diverse and more inclusive environment as a possible solution to gender inequality

Solange Peters, Chair of the Women for Oncology Committee 2015-2019, set the scene by giving an update from the Women for Oncology Monitoring study. Results showed that advancements in gender balance in the oncology field were then at a standstill.

Manjit Dosanjh, Senior Advisor for Medical Applications at CERN and UN representative for GWI shared her personal story conveying the need for small steps to achieve big results. Francesco Panese, Professor of Sociology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, considered the sociological perspective, revealing how gender stereotypes have an ancient origin in medicine.
