Valentin Goede is a dual-trained hemato-oncologist and clinical gerontologist/geriatrician located at Cologne, Germany.
After having obtained his MD at Georg-August University of Göttingen in 2000, he was trained and board-certified in internal medicine (2010), hematology and oncology (2010) as well as geriatrics (2013) at Ammerland Clinic Westerstede, University Hospital Munich-Großhadern, University Hospital Cologne, and St. Marien Hospital Cologne, respectively.
From 2006 until 2010, Valentin Goede was co-leader of the Laboratory of Antiangiogenesis at the University Hospital Cologne. Since 2002, he has been an active member of the German CLL Study Group (GCLLSG) with reasearch focus on CLL in the elderly. He designed and co-ordinated several clinical trials targeted to this patient population, including the CLL11 landmark study.
He is board member of EHA scientific working group on Aging and Hematology. He is also active at the ASH workshop on Hematology and Aging as well as several national initiatives in geriatric oncology or general geriatric medicine. Valentin Goede is active member of EHA and SIOG.
Valentin Goede has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Blood, Leukemia, Haematologica, Annals of Oncology, British Journal of Cancer.
In his current position, Valentin Goede is leader of the Oncogeriatric Unit at St. Marien Hospital, Cologne, Germany. His current research interest is delivery of geriatric care to elderly in-patients with active hematological or oncological malignancies and frailty / high burden of geriatric syndromes.
