Dr. Claudia Cardone received her training in Medicine and Surgery in Strasbourg and Naples, where she graduated in 2012.

In 2018, she completed her residency in Medical Oncology at the Università della Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" in Naples, Italy. She focused the majority of her training and early research activity on colorectal cancer, with a special interest in translational research. 

She has participated in a variety of educational and research activities, including the EORTC-ESMO-AACR Methods in Clinical Cancer Research Workshop and ESO-ESMO Masterclass in Clinical Oncology. In 2019, she successfully passed the ESMO examination.

After a research period at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Medical University of Vienna, she completed her PhD programme in “Translational Medicine” at the Università della Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli" in 2021.

As part of her research experience, she served as a research fellow at the Clinical Trial Unit at the National Cancer Institute - Fondazione G. Pascale in Naples from 2019 to 2020, where she gained expertise in early-phase clinical trials and clinical methodology.

As of 2020, Dr. Cardone is a consultant Medical Oncologist at the Experimental Clinical Abdominal Oncology Unit at the National Cancer Institute - Fondazione G. Pascale in Naples, dedicated to clinical and translational research in gastrointestinal tumors.

Dr. Cardone authored and co-authored over 50 research papers.

Dr. Cardone joined ESMO in 2013. She served as a member of the ESMO Young Oncologists Committee from 2016 to 2022. She is currently a member of the ESMO Examination Working Group, and she serves as a member in the ESMO Faculty in Translational Research.
