Licitra shares her comments about randomised, phase III DECISION trial that studied sorafenib, an orally active inhibitor of VEGFR1-3 and Raf kinases, vs. placebo in patients with progressive locally advanced/metastatic radioactive iodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer. The standard treatment in this situation is a classical chemotherapy and now targeted therapy with sorafenib shows improved progression-free survival with tolerability consistent with known sorafenib safety profile.
