- 2 June 2014 ESMO endorses the 'Prague Charter: Relieving suffering' set up by the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC), the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC), the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance (WPCA), Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
- 24 May 2014 ESMO, UICC, NCD Alliance and other endorsing partners issue palliative care statement at 67th World Health Assembly where palliative care resolution adopted. The landmark resolution (67.19) calls for an improvement in palliative care and for Member States to report back on increased access to legitimate use of pain medicines.
