Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the largest independent funder of cancer research in Europe, and the world’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research.

Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. We invest around €450m in world-leading research across all cancer types. We fund high-calibre, innovative research that we believe has the potential to provide the greatest benefit to the public and cancer patients.

Our diverse portfolio spans a breath of research areas, from fundamental discovery research to understand the biology and causes of cancer, through translational research to bring the latest discoveries to the benefits of patients, to drug discovery to identify potential new treatments, clinical research to deliver the best treatments for patients, and population-level research covering epidemiology, prevention and early detection of cancer.

We are proud to support 4,000 researchers, doctors and nurses in institutions across the UK and internationally. Our progress is dependent on these outstanding individuals and teams conducting high-quality research.

We support over 250 clinical trials, with more than 22,000 people joining our trials each year.

We work in partnership to achieve the greatest impact. We are the gateway through which researchers and institutions can join forces with academic collaborators and commercial partners. Our open, collaborative research community expand the bounds of what research team can achieve individually, and our established industry links and proven commercialisation experience enable us to develop new ideas to their full potential.

ESMO is the leading professional organisation for medical oncology. With more than 25,000 members representing oncology professionals from over 160 countries worldwide, ESMO is the society of reference for oncology education and information. ESMO is committed to offer the best care to people with cancer, through fostering integrated cancer care, supporting oncologists in their professional development, and advocating for sustainable cancer care worldwide.

Founded in 1975, ESMO has European roots with a global reach. Home for all oncology stakeholders, ESMO connects professionals with diverse expertise and experience. Its education and information resources support an integrated multi-professional approach to cancer care, from a medical oncology perspective. ESMO seeks to erase boundaries in cancer care, whether between countries or specialities, and pursue its mission across oncology, worldwide.

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience and around 800 expert committee members, ESMO serves its members and the oncology community through:

  • Post-graduate oncology education and training
  • Career development and leadership training for the next generations of oncologists
  • International congresses and workshops to share expertise and best practice, learn about the most up-to-date scientific advances, and connect with colleagues in related disciplines
  • Continuously reviewed, evidence-based standards for cancer care
  • Advocacy and consultation to foster a favourable environment for scientific research

Cancer care is rapidly becoming more integrated and more specialised; whether their field is research, diagnosis, treatment, care, or advocacy, oncology professionals need to both build their specialist knowledge and connect with the best practitioners in other disciplines worldwide. ESMO membership makes this possible.

Unicancer is the only French hospital network that is dedicated entirely to fighting cancer: 18 French Comprehensive Cancer Centres (FCCCs), non-profit private healthcare institutions spread across 20 hospitals in France. More than 20,000 men and women dedicated, on a daily basis, to constantly seeking excellence in healthcare, research and higher education.

The leading edge in oncology in France, and key players internationally, Cancer Centres participate in public hospital service and provide care for the patient in accordance with conventional tariffs, without any overrunning of fees.

Research represents one of the fundamental missions of the FCCCs. It enables patients to benefit from diagnostic and therapeutic innovations by calling on all of the disciplines involved in cancer care. In each Centre, multidisciplinary teams associate care and research units in order to develop integrated research on cancer, based on the clinical, translational and real-world research continuum.

Unicancer is an academic promoter. Its clinical research department, as an oncology clinical research operator, works directly with the research units of the Cancer Centres and (the) other health institutions (university hospital centres, hospital centres, clinics, etc.) in France and abroad.
