Palliative care service is led by an experienced palliative care specialist with two palliative care nurses. The service complements oncology service delivering and monitoring symptom management, supportive care and providing end-of-life care. Palliative care form part of routine multidisciplinary in-patient care and also sees patient in the outpatient department. Palliative care links with the community hospice teams to facilitate transition from hospital to home care. We have plans to develop community palliative care as part of further expansion of our palliative care services.
