History

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) is one of Singapore's largest multi-disciplinary hospitals with 178 years of pioneering medical care and development.

The hospital is a member of the National Healthcare Group which serves the central region of Singapore, comprising 2.2 million people. We are part of Singapore's public healthcare system and hosts the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, Institute for Geriatrics & Active Ageing, NHG Eye Institute, the Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation and the PH Feng Research Centre includes early phase trials at its 17-hectare Health City Novena campus. Cancer genetic services such as Genetic Counselling has been provided by TTSH since December 2017.

Profile

The Palliative Medicine Department in TTSH is Singapore's first hospital-based Palliative Medicine Service and provides inpatient and outpatient services. It also runs the country's first Palliative Medicine Unit (a 13-bed Unit) since 2014 and has separate services including cancer and non-cancer related services.

The Oncology department at TTSH maintains its strong links to Johns Hopkins Hospital & Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore through the NHG-Johns Hopkins Singapore Institute and provides state-of-the-art treatment to overseas and local patients. State-of the-art cancer services are extended to Khoo Teck Puah Hospital (KTPH) and the whole central region of Singapore.

The Haematology department at TTSH manages over 9000 outpatient visits per year and sees about 250 new haematological cancer patients per year. With Oncology, the two departments provide an integrated treatment service that includes provision of complex cancer surgery, outpatient-based chemotherapy and complex inpatient chemotherapy treatments, including management of acute leukaemia.

Our Palliative Medicine Department runs services for Oncology-Palliative Medicine Multidisciplinary Rounds, Haematology-Palliative Medicine Rounds, ICU-Palliative Medicine Service, ED-Palliative Medicine Service, Heart failure –Palliative Medicine Rounds, Advanced Dementia Ward, Complex pain multidisciplinary rounds as well as Palliative Rehabilitation for End-Stage Lung Diseases.

Our Haemato-Oncology Departments provide complex cancer surgery including HIPEC, outpatient-based chemotherapy and complex inpatient chemotherapy treatments including management of acute leukaemia.
