Oncologist and palliativists working closely together and discussing the situations of individual patients guarantee cooperation between Palliative Care Unit and the Oncology Department. Usually, the interaction occurs weekly, planning meetings between the palliative care unit staff and the oncology department staff. Both oncologists and palliativists are available to consult patients recovered in Palliative Care or Oncology Department, respectively.

Finally in Palliative Care Unit, collaboration of care across disciplines is supported through weekly formal interdisciplinary palliative care meetings, where physicians and nurse practioners of various disciplines (palliative care, medical oncology, surgical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, psychiatry) meet with nursing, case management, social work, and chaplaincy to discuss patients active on the service.

Integration between symptoms cure and tumour cure is provided in every phase of the patient's illness through a patient-oriented working strategy, a multidisciplinary approach, a complete and through symptoms' evaluation. If patient conditions are judge to be critical and symptoms cannot be correctly supervised we program admission to the hospital. Moreover, when a patient undergoing chemotherapy shows uncontrollable symptoms, home care assistance is simultaneously started.
