History

Hospital Universitari Mutua Terrassa (HUMT) is part of the Public Hospitals network (XHUP) providing medical services to social security patients in the Terrassa catchment area, in agreement with CatSalut, the health department of the Regional Government (Generalitat) of Catalonia. It is ascribed to the University of Barcelona.

The hospital has an outstanding reputation for healthcare. It currently has 376 beds a total of 34 medical and surgical specialities and main services. It provides public health coverage to a catchment area of 262,445 inhabitants.

It has agreements with the ‘Universitat de Barcelona’ since 1985 to train students in Medicine, Pharmacy and Psychology, as well as different Nursing schools and other universities and centres of higher education.

It has 9 primary care centres and 4 local health centres in the region with a total of 266.562 inhabitants. More than 6,000 people are attended daily.

For tertiary specialities ie neurosurgery, surgical oncology, etc the catchment area is up to 1.000.000 inhabitants.

Profile

The centre has 16 wards and 376 beds, 20% of which are single. There are 490 doctors and a total of 3,000 professionals work in the centre. The centre trains 292 residents a year in 25 specialities.

There is a 100 beds centre for geriatric, palliative and long stay patients belonging to the same organization close to HUMT.

Mútua Terrassa health University Campus is the dynamizing environment of knowledge in the different fields of activity of the institution: insurance, health care, logistics and geriatric healthcare.

We also have the Foundation for Research and Training since 2000 to facilitate the research in all medical fields.

We are part of the United Nations (Global Compact) which is an initiative of ethical commitment to institutions of all countries to qualify, as an integral part of its strategy and operations, the 10 principles of conduct and action on Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Fight against corruption.

There is a religious service, social workers, full image diagnose and treatment and a HIFU unit.

Palliative and Supportive Care

The Hospital Geriatrics and Palliative Care team(UFISS) consists of 3 nurses, 2 doctors, 2 social workers, a physiotherapist, a psychologist and a Clinical Research Data Manager.

Hospital stay: 30 beds, 8 single rooms suitable for autologous bone marrow transplantation, and 2 single rooms for patients requiring specialized care (terminally ill, infections ...).

Outpatient department: 3 offices with daily practice from 8:30 - 4 pm (Monday to Friday) and 3 hours a week for palliative care.

Day Hospital: 20 sleeper chairs and 3 minor areas where 4 nurses and a clerk work. The working hours are 8-4 pm Monday through Friday.

Clinical Research Unit: performs clinical trials Phase II / III / IV.

The Palliative Homecare support team (PADES) is made of 2 teams each consisting of 2 nurses, a doctor and a social worker.

Psychooncologist office: 3 days a week from 9-14h.
