Hospital Doctor Negrin
C/Barranco La Ballena, sn
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Hospital Doctor Negrin is a 620-bed full-service hospital serving the north area of Gran Canaria with on-site radiology, pathology, radiation, surgery, palliative care and pharmacy services. We are seeking Medical Oncologists to join our growing team committed to a patient focused multidisciplinary integrated model of cancer patient care. The team sees around 1700 new consults each year and offers cutting edge therapy in a personalised practice environment.
The Canary Islands is a Spanish region compelled by seven islands of diverse and spectacular beauty with volcanoes, sand dunes, rich forests and rugged cliffs. Gran Canaria is one of the main islands, internationally known as “the miniature continent”, offering the opportunity to go hiking, climbing, go windsurfing and enjoy a music festival all in one day. As one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe, the islands are connected to mainland Spain and other European countries by direct daily flights. Fortunate to be economically and politically European but geographically close to the equator, the 4,800 hours of sunshine each year and mild temperatures will help you enjoy making the Canary Islands your home.
Your activities will include clinical activity in tumor-specific outpatient clinics (80% of work load) and support to our inpatient team (20% of work load). Complementary afternoons are held to support the Day Care Hospital during chemotherapy administration and urgent consultations. As part of our team, you will participate in tumor specific boards for case discussions and have the support of provincial tumour groups. Applicants with a broad interest in oncology are encouraged to apply, although we work in tumor-specific clinics.
You hold an MD degree, are eligible for licensing with the Spanish College of Physicians, and hold a specialist degree in Medical Oncology from a European country. You can speak, read and write in Spanish with a sufficient level to be self-sufficient in the clinics. You are enthusiastic, personable and work well as part of a team.
We offer you:
- Full-time (Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week)
- Long term contract
- Teaching fellows, residents and medical students; both in clinic and hospital settings
- A continued learning opportunity with fellow lecture series, Journal clubs and tumor specific boards
- Advice to find housing, schools…
- Opportunity to contribute decisively to the growth of a young and enthusiastic team.
