BC Cancer is looking for a Medical Oncologist to join its Vernon Satellite Clinic team, operated by BC Cancer – Kelowna and located in British Columbia’s Southern Interior Region. Reporting to the Department Head of Medical Oncology located at BC Cancer – Kelowna, the Medical Oncologist will be part of a well-established Vernon team of two Medical Oncologists and three General Practitioners in Oncology, and more broadly, within the provincial structure for oncology care. You will use your extensive experience and qualifications to provide oncology consultation, patient care, teaching, and research, and participate in case discussions through the provincial tumour group support and tumour board conferences. This clinic is located within the 186-bed Vernon Jubilee Hospital, with on-site radiology, pathology, surgery, and pharmacy services. The team sees around 500 new consults and 6,000 follow-up patients each year, and offers cutting edge therapy in a personalized practice environment. In the near future, clinical trials enrollment will be supported at the Vernon site, increasing research and care opportunities.

Vernon is a five-hour drive to Vancouver (depending on weather conditions), with air travel out of Kelowna International Airport (30-minute drive from Vernon).
As the successful candidate, you will have obtained, or are working towards, Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology. You must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Medical Advisory Committee of BC Cancer. In addition, applicants must be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and for appointment to the Medical Staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
