Prof Sarah Coupland is a senior Consultant Histopathologist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUHT) and is also the (first female) George Holt Chair of Pathology at the University of Liverpool, England.  Areas of expertise include Haematopathology, Molecular Pathology, Ophthalmic Pathology (particularly melanoma and lymphoma), and Biobanking.

She leads the supraregional Ophthalmic Pathology referral service at the RLUHT. She is head of the Liverpool-Ocular-Oncology-Research-Group, and is Director of the North West Cancer Research Centre @UoL. 

Prof Coupland is President of the “International Society of Ophthalmic Pathology” (ISOP); Vice-Chair of the Ophthalmic Oncology Committee for the 8^th TNM/AJCC Staging System; previous Eye-Pathology section Lead for the “European Society of Pathology” (ESP); Past-President of the European “Ophthalmic-Oncology-Group” (OOG), and immediate past Vice-President of the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2017-8. She has published ~260 scientific articles, written numerous textbook chapters, and is involved in national and international collaborative projects.
