Laura Biganzoli is the Director of the Breast Center at the Oncology Department of the Hospital of Prato.
She earned her medical degree at the University of Pavia, Italy in 1989 and completed fellowships at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, Italy and at the Jules Bordet Institute in Brussels, Belgium. From 1996 to 2003 she worked as a senior staff member at the Medical Oncology Clinic of the Jules Bordet Institute. From 2009 to 2011 Dr Biganzoli was Visiting Senior Lecturer in the Division of Cancer Studies at the School of Medicine, King’s College – London.
She is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine.
Dr. Biganzoli was the Director of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Investigational Drug Branch for Breast Cancer, dedicated to the conduction of early phase II studies in advanced breast cancer from 1998 to 2003.
Dr Biganzoli is President of the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists (EUSOMA), faculty member for the Breast Cancer Faculty Group of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), and Treasurer of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG). She sat on the Board of Directors of the Breast International Group (BIG) (1999-2003) and has served as a faculty member of ESMO for Elderly (2012-2014).
Dr. Biganzoli is an active member in different national and international societies, including the Associazione Italiana di Oncologia Medica (AIOM), the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and the European Society of Breast Cancer Specialists (EUSOMA).
Her research focuses on breast cancer and geriatric oncology and she has extensively published in these fields.
