Dr. Gilbert is a Professor of Medicine and serves as Vice Chair for Professional Development in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

She has served in numerous educational roles on a local and national level including Director of the Hematology Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Vanderbilt, Chair of the ASCO Oncology Training Program Director Committee, Chair of the ASCO Professional Development Subcommittee, mentor for the ASCO Leadership Development Program for Educators. She has also served as on the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Oncology Board.

In her roles, she has broad experience in curriculum development and programmatic creation for professional development.

Clinically, her focus remains head and neck cancer and endocrine oncology and she continues to treat patients and run clinical trials in these areas.
