Elisa Fontana graduated with a medical degree from the University of Parma, Italy in 2008 and completed her specialisation in Medical Oncology with Dr Andrea Ardizzoni at the same university in 2014. During her final year of training she worked with Professor David Cunningham at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London to prepare her thesis on management and risk of recurrence in operable oesophago-gastric cancer. Following this she worked as clinical fellow in Drug and Development Unit at the Royal Marsden with Professor Johann De Bono where she was involved in the clinical management of patients enrolled in Phase I trials.
Dr Fontana currently works as Specialty Doctor in the West Wing Clinical Research Centre at The Royal Marsden, Sutton, Surrey (UK) which is a unit dedicated to clinical trials. Her interests include gastrointestinal oncology, drug development and translational research.
