Palliative and Supportive Care

arnhem-rijnstate-centre-staff

There is 24/7 oncological and palliative care available for inpatients and outpatients. We work in close cooperation with other consultants, transfer service, GP’s, nursing homes, nearby hospices, and the home care palliative care services.

The hospital has a interdisciplinary specialist palliative care service for all (oncology) patients. This team consists of medical oncologists, anaesthesiologists, radiation oncologists, a geriatrist, nurse practitioners (NP's) palliative care, a psychologist and pastoral care workers (chaplains, humanistic counselors and a Islamitic counseler).

Our consultation model is nurse-based: the NP’s palliative care do the first consultation and provide advice to the physicians and nurses at the oncology department. In this way oncology and palliative care are integrated.
