About ESMO Preceptorships

ESMO-Preceptorships-1000x250

What makes an ESMO Preceptorship different?

ESMO Preceptorships are interactive educational courses, limited in size (approx. 60 delegates) in order to optimize interaction. Participation is upon selection and at no costs for selected participants.

All courses in the programme have clearly defined learning objectives. The programme structure comprises plenary lectures by a multidisciplinary faculty of leading international experts and case-based sessions about current standards of care.

Each course also includes patient case presentations submitted by participants who are selected to present for discussion.

There is an emphasis on interaction and adequate discussion time is provided after all sessions.

What are the learning objectives of the courses?

Each course focuses on a specific malignancy on oncology topic and aims to provide oncologists with a thorough understanding of the management of the disease from diagnosis to treatment, according to current standards of care, with a particular focus on medical oncology in a multidisciplinary setting.

Who are the courses aimed at?

The courses are designed primarily for medical and clinical oncologists (MDs) and all ESMO members can apply to join. They are particularly suitable for young oncologists and for general oncologists wishing to update their knowledge as part of their normal CME activities.

I have heard that these courses are a great opportunity to expand my professional network…

Yes. Participation is limited to approx 60 delegates per course to ensure interaction with other participants and the faculty, offering at the same time great networking opportunities.

How long does each course last and where do they take place?

Courses are typically 1.5 days in duration and are held throughout the year mainly in Europe and Asia, but also in other parts of the world.

What’s included?

Places on courses are awarded on a competitive basis and there is no charge for course registration. Selected participants will receive free hotel accommodation, meals during the meeting and a networking dinner at the end of the first day is also included. Selected participants will receive a travel grant to cover the cost of their flight, typically up to 600 EUR.

Will I receive any ESMO-MORA CME points for participating?

Yes, each course is accredited with 8-16 ESMO-MORA category 1 CME points.
