ESMO: Tell us a bit about your career so far

Laurids: I graduated from Aarhus University in 2008 and I have been doing my residency and Ph.D. in Oncology since.

What is your current activity?

Currently, I am finishing my Ph.D. within rectal cancer and then I will back in the clinic to finish my residency. My greatest clinical interest is within colorectal cancer.

What motivates you?

To participate in the worldwide effort to provide better life and hope for patients with cancer.

Why did you choose to become a medical oncologist?

Medical oncology, to me, is the greatest medical specialty with the combination of close doctor-patient contact and great possibilities for research.

What does your involvement with ESMO and the Young Oncologists Committee (YOC) mean to you?

ESMO YOC provides great possibilities within network and seeing different ways of providing great ideas and new ways to provide the best education for YO’s.

Do you have some good advice you would like to share with your international colleagues?

Join as many ESMO activities as possible, they provide the greatest opportunity for networking and education.
