The Crick is a multi-disciplinary biomedical discovery research institute in central London dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease.

The Crick’s research is dedicated to unravelling the scientific mechanisms of living organisms, helping us to understand why disease develops and find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses. The Francis Crick Institute PhD for Clinicians (3 years)

Job Description

Our 2019 doctoral fellowships for clinicians provide an opportunity for talented clinicians to carry out exciting research projects for three years while following the Crick’s clinical PhD programme.

Fellows will be based at the Crick, supported by teams comprising a Crick research group leader, at least one supervisor from one of Crick’s five clinical PhD programme partners (Barts Cancer Institute/Queen Mary University of London, Imperial College London, The Institute of Cancer Research, King’s College London and UCL) and at least one clinician.

We have a variety of PhD projects available, funded via: 

  • The Crick
  • A Cancer Research UK Accelerator Award
  • NIHR Great Ormond Street Hospital BRC
  • NIHR University College London Hospitals BRC

We are looking for talented and motivated clinicians who are passionate about research, have a strong academic track record and hold full GMC registration or equivalent.

These are full-time research positions with limited participation in clinical activities. They are fully funded for three years, and PhD registration will be with the appropriate programme partner institution. Successful candidates will receive a salary commensurate with their current experience, paid on the clinical academic scale.
