Our clinic, the general public hospital Spittal/Drau, is located in the beautiful South of Austria, close to Salzburg, Italy and Slovenia. The 210-bed hospital provides medical support for the population in the second biggest district of Austria. Our departments are internal medicine, surgery, traumatology, anaesthesia and intensive care, gynecology and obstetrics and radiology.
The city of Spittal/Drau offers an outstanding quality of life in close vicinity to beautiful mountains such as the Goldeck and picturesque lakes like the Millstätter See, where skiing, hiking, mountain biking and swimming are possible. A very good educational system, affordable housing and the opportunity to lead a life close to nature are typical for our area.
The department of internal medicine is equipped with 85 beds, 24 beds in geriatrics as well as an interdisciplinary intensive care unit (6 beds in cooperation with the department of anaesthesia). Furthermore there is a dialysis station with 10 beds and a special emphasis on the treatment of gastroenterological diseases.
Our oncology centre exists since 2003 and provides comprehensive service for a regional population of 80,000 people. There are about 6,000 contacts with patients (outpatient and inpatient) per year.

Job Description

Your very attractive, market-related payment will be based on the official salary scheme of Carinthia plus allowances based on your professional qualification and experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, staging and treating cancer patients
  • Development of the cancer patients’ treatment plan (in cooperation with our oncological reference-centre in Klagenfurt)
  • Monitoring of patients
  • Participation in meetings of the cancer strategy group
  • Collaboration with radiologists, surgeons and external experts.

Qualifications and Skills

  • MD PHD
  • Completed specialised training in medical oncology or advanced training
  • Previous experience in specified site of interest
  • Good interpersonal skills with patients, relatives and members of the clinical team
  • Excellent knowledge of German (minimum requirement: language competence level C1)

Please note: Since our hospital is located in a rural area of Austria a solid knowledge of German is a prerequisite for employment.
