Young Oncologists Committee

The Young Oncologists Committee (YOC) creates and implements educational and scientific programs aimed at addressing the medium, and current long-term issues associated with the daily practice of Young Oncologists.

Activities and responsibilities

  • Integrating the activities of the YOC into those of ESMO with the objective of developing Europe's oncology leaders of the future
  • Proposing the content of the ESMO young oncologist (YO) masterclass
  • Informing the ESMO Executive Committee about issues relevant to the career development of young oncologists
  • Enhancing young oncologists' expertise for future practice and career development
  • Promoting and creating opportunities for research activities
  • Creating a global communication network where issues relative can be shared and debated
  • Collaborating with the ESMO Conference Lugano (ECLU) Working Group to organize ECLU

Structure

  • Chair appointed by the Executive Committee after consultation with the previous Chair
  • Members must be ESMO young oncologists, i.e. younger than 40 years of age
  • President of the Flims Alumni Club (FAC) is ex-officio member
  • Selected YO are appointed to serve as observers on ESMO committees, working groups and task forces
