José M Trigo, MD,
joined the faculty at the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria in Málaga, Spain
in 2004, where he is currently a member of the Department of
Hematology-Oncology and Director of the Lung Cancer, Head & Neck Cancer and
Early Clinical Development Programs.
Dr. Trigo obtained his
medical degree in 1990 at the University of Málaga, Spain, and has trained in internal
medicine and medical oncology at Hospital Universitario Doce de Octubre,
Madrid, Spain. Dr. Trigo was awarded the
European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) fellowship to study new drug
development in Medical Oncology at The Royal Marsden Hospital and at the Institute of Cancer Research
in Sutton, UK. Following this he joined the
Head and Neck Cancer and Early Clinical Trials Units of the Medical Oncology
Department at Vall d'Hebron University
Hospital, Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. Trigo´s research
interests are focused on lung cancer, head and neck cancer and early trials of
growth factor receptors and downstream molecules as targets for cancer therapy.
He has also been involved in the clinical development of several new
chemotherapy agents and a variety of antiangiogenic agents.
Dr. Trigo has
published more than 10 peer-reviewed articles in addition to abstracts and book
chapters, and he is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology
(ASCO), ESMO, and the Spanish Society for Medical Oncology.
