Dr. Ricardo da Luz is the Director
and Chairman of the Board of the Portuguese Cancer Institute in Lisbon, a position he has
held since 2005. Previously he held a position as a medical oncologist at the
University Hospital of Santa Maria (1993-2000), where he was the Director of
the Medical Oncology Department from 2003 to 2005. He also worked at the
Portuguese Cancer Institute in Porto where he
was the Director from 2001 to 2003.
He is the Vice-President and President-Elect of the
Portuguese Society of Oncology and is a member of the National Council of
Oncology. He also participated in the last two Portuguese National Cancer Plans (2001-2006
and 2007-2010).
He has published and presented papers on oncological issues,
mainly in Breast Cancer and Melanoma, in several national and international
meetings. In the last few years his main area of interest is the organization
of cancer care delivery (Cancer Services).
Dr. Ricardo da Luz is a member of several international and
national societies.
