Prof. Rabab Gaafar is Deputy Head of
Medical Oncology, National Cancer Institute, Cairo (NCI), Cairo
University in Egypt.
Prof. Rabab Gaafar received her M.B.B.Ch. from Faculty
of Medicine, Cairo
University, MSc.
General Medicine from Faculty of Medicine, Cairo
University, and M.D. certification in Medical Oncology from the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University.
Prof. Rabab Gaafar is currently directing the Thoracic Oncology Program at NCI,
Cairo and she
is also heading the Early Detection Prevention Unit at the same institute since
2006.
She is currently Chairman
of Quality Assurance in the Board of the European Organization for Research and
Treatment of Cancer Lung Cancer Group (EORTC).
Prof. Rabab Gaafar has published more than
150 publications in national and international journals and is on the editorial
board for the journal of the National Cancer Institute, Cairo.
In 2007 she received an award
for distinguished publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Previously
she received the Medical Syndicate Award of
Cairo in 2003 and that of Egypt
in 2004.
Prof. Rabab Gaafar holds memberships in
several professional societies including the International Association for the
Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), Mediterranean
Oncology Group (MOG), International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research
(INCTR), French Egyptian Cancer Society and Board member of Arab Medical
Association.
Prof. Rabab Gaafar is mainly interested in: Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, and Breast Cancer.
