Prof. Dr.med.habil. István Láng, MD, PhD, DSc. received his diploma in
general medicine at the Medical School of the Semmelweis
University, Budapest in 1970. He specialized in internal
medicine in 1975, in
clinical immunology and allergology in 1985, in clinical oncology in 1999, and in
clinical pharmacology in 2003. He has the European Certification of Medical
Oncology (ESMO) since 2001. He received his PhD degree in 1978, DSc Degree
(Doctor of Medical Sciences of the Hungarian
Academy of Sciences) in 1985, and he
became a habilitated Doctor of the Semmelweis
University in 1995, where
he became Professor of Medicine in 1998.
Between 1970 and 1997 he worked at the
Department of Medicine of the Semmelweis
University and since 1997 he has been
working as the Head of Department of Medical Oncology and Clinical Pharmacology
at the National Institute of Oncology in Budapest.
His main interests are solid tumors
(especially breast), gastrointestinal and head and neck cancers, lung cancer
and soft tissue sarcoma, including GIST.
He has
participated in several international clinical trials as investigator or
principal investigator. He is author and co-author of more than 150 scientific
papers with a cumulated impact factor of around 150.
