Global Core Curriculum Task Force

The Global Core Curriculum (GCC) Task Force is a joint venture between ESMO and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The goal is to define a global outline that will serve to guide the training of medical oncologists worldwide. Implementation of the Recommendations for a Global Core Curriculum in Medical Oncology serves to ensure that all patients have an equal chance of receiving treatment from well-trained physicians.

Activities and responsibilities

  • Compiling collective knowledge and experience from international oncology experts
  • Creating guidelines for standardizing the training of medical oncologists
  • Encouraging continued education for professional excellence during a lifetime career of practice
  • Improving the care of cancer patients worldwide

Structure

  • Members from ESMO and ASCO representing different areas of specialization and practice
  • International reviewers from different geographical regions
  • Young oncologist reviewers
