• Providing and sharing resources, among which its scientific journal, Annals of Oncology
• Awarding fellowships and research grants
• Distributing press releases announcing latest research results in oncology

Medical Training

ESMO supports standard training and certification for medical oncologists mainly by:

• Publishing and distributing the ESMO-ASCO Recommendations for a Global Core Curriculum in Medical Oncology
• Granting European certification through the ESMO Examination in Medical Oncology

Oncology Treatment

ESMO establishes criteria for basic standard clinical treatment guidelines by:

• Publishing and distributing the ESMO Clinical Recommendations for the treatment of various cancer types
• Developing ESMO handbooks on specific topics in oncology
• Fostering the ESMO Policy on Supportive and Palliative Care
• Granting the ESMO accreditation of 'Designated Centers of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care'
• Providing an online Clinical Discussion Forum for oncologists to discuss rare or difficult cases with ESMO Faculty experts
• Developing European and international surveys on the status of oncology practice and healthcare facilities

Continuing medical education (CME)

ESMO assures a high level of qualification of medical oncologists within multidisciplinary oncology teams mainly by:

• Accrediting meetings and courses with the ESMO Label and CME points
• Arranging virtual meetings
• Organizing annual patient seminars
