ESMO is pleased to continue its support of the ACORD Workshop 2010, and to join ESMO Faculty with other world renowned experts to provide oncology and allied health professionals with hands-on collaboration and guidance during an intensive week-long clinical trials training program.
Target audience
Health professionals with training in medical, radiation, surgical and psycho-oncology, and/or palliative care, pharmacology and allied health disciplines.
Workshop goals
- Imparting principles of good clinical trial design which yield clear results to apply both in the clinic and in future research projects and
- Exposing participants to the full spectrum of challenges in clinical research, from conventional antineoplastic agents and multidisciplinary treatment regimens to biological therapy.
Workshop program
- A variety of educational components to aid in successful protocol design
- Development sessions where participants present and discuss their clinical trial proposal in detail
- Extensive session topics including areas such as global cancer research, principles of clinical trials design, phase I-III trials, basic biostatistics, epidemiology, meta-analysis and systematic review

Application process
The application process for 2010 is now closed.
Selection process
Up to sixty participants will be selected through a competitive application process. With an international focus, past Workshop participants have come from India, Nepal, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Iran, Bangladesh, Philippines, Pakistan, Korea, United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia and New Zealand.
Fellowships
Fellowships overing fees, travel expenses, accommodation and meals are available to successful applicants.
