ASCO-ESMO Consensus Statement on Quality Cancer Care
The ASCO-ESMO Consensus Statement on Quality Cancer Care is a joint document made up of 10 points outlining goals to provide access to and continuity of quality cancer care worldwide. The document aims to:
- Set the standard for the essential components of quality cancer care for policy makers, physicians, nurses and other health care personnel
- Reduce discrepancies in patients' access to health care services, high quality cancer care, innovative drugs, clinical trials, multidisciplinary care, pain management, palliative care, information, access to medical records
- Improve patients' autonomy
ESMO Policy on Supportive and Palliative Care
The ESMO Policy on Supportive and Palliative Care is a comprehensive document addressing:
- The role of the oncologist in the provision of supportive and palliative care
- Supportive and palliative care training for medical oncologists
- Minimum standards for the provision of supportive and palliative care by cancer centers
