Guides for Patients are designed to assist patients, their relatives and caregivers to better understand the nature of different types of cancer and evaluate the best available treatment choices.

Sharing some common goals in their mission statement regarding patient education and knowledge dissemination, ESMO and the non-profit organization Reliable Cancer Therapies, have produced Guides for Patients to assist patients in structuring and absorbing the complex nature of information on cancer and evidence-based treatments.

The medical information described in the Guides for Patients is based on the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines, which are designed to guide medical oncologists in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment in different cancer types and conditions. The Guides for Patients translate this medical information into a language understandable to patients. Therefore Guides for Patients are produced by Reliable Cancer Therapies in close collaboration with the ESMO Guidelines Working Group and the ESMO Cancer Patient Working Group.

Guides for Patients can be accessed in two ways, either by visiting the interactive web site of Reliable Cancer Therapies (www.reliablecancertherapies.com) or by downloading them as PDF documents on the ESMO Web page in any of the four different languages listed below.
