ESMO Designated Centers of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care
The ESMO Designated Centers of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care accreditation program is an incentive program initiated in 2003 in which cancer centers can receive special recognition for achieving a high standard of integration of medical oncology and palliative care.
Cancer centers which provide comprehensive services in supportive and palliative care as part of their routine care can apply to receive the ESMO special accreditation as an "ESMO Designated Center of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care". The ESMO designation is valid for 3 years and the centers can reapply.
The Centers receiving the certification will be entitled:

- to use the ESMO logo in accordance to the ESMO Logo Policy (marketing/advertising related to the Center itself. No advertising of specific events)
- to be eligible to receive fellows in palliative medicine supported by ESMO grants
The main objectives of the program are:
- promoting the integration of palliative care services into the existing national cancer care guidelines
- encouraging palliative care education and training for medical oncologists as well as other healthcare professionals
