ESMO as official partner with ECCO, AACR, and EORTC for 12th ‘Flims’ Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research, 19-25 June 2010, Flims, Switzerland

Category: ESMO News

Junior physicians submit your application online before 12 February 2010 to participate in this most prestigious clinical trials workshop in Europe.

As part of its strategic objective to improve cancer research and care in Europe, ESMO is proud to announce its official partnership in supporting the 12th ‘Flims’ Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research, alongside other leading oncology societies such as the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). In addition, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is supporting the Workshop with members of the Faculty.

Participants at the Workshop will learn from top experts how to design effective therapeutic clinical trials in any oncology research subspecialty. Sit side-by-side with renowned international scientists and Faculty to maximize your information exchange on the principles of high-quality clinical trials. The Workshop responds to a need for researchers to avoid inaccuracies in the design of clinical protocols, inaccuracies which can thwart promising areas for new advances and lead to delays in introducing innovative cancer therapy into the practice of medical oncology and everyday patient care.

Senior oncologists don’t miss this occasion to identify high calibre trainees who can benefit from this outstanding educational opportunity and return to your institute with a top-notch plan to implement a research protocol designed to obtain clear results. Workshop participants can profit from sessions on topics like novel designs for Phase I trials and new endpoints for Phase II trials, correlative studies, radomized trials, software for sample size computation, biobanking, translational research, and how to make dynamic written and oral research presentations that audiences will remember.

Representing ESMO in the Flims Workshop are Johann de Bono (Royal Marsden Hospital, UK), as one of the Workshop Directors, and Fatima Cardoso (Jules Bordet Cancer Institute, BE), Christian Dittrich (Ludwig Bolzmann Institute for Applied Cancer Research, AT), and Ian Judson (Institute of Cancer Research, UK) as members of the Faculty.

European and non-European junior oncologists can apply online, or contact the Workshop Coordinator, Mrs. Kaat Cumps, at kaat.cumps@ecco-org.eu for more information.
