In February 2009, the ESMO Symposium on Cancer and Nutrition was supported by the organizers of nutritionDay.
On 21 January 2010 nutritionDay worldwide will take place again. Please help publicize this initiative!
The nutritionDay-project started in 2006 and now runs worldwide. This project raises awareness about how information related to malnutrition can be strengthened and a worldwide, uniform database can be created to identify key aspects of malnutrition.
The nutritionDay evaluation can be conducted in every normal hospital station, intensive care unit (ICU) and nursing home.
Five anonymous questionnaires are used to asses the prehistory, the topical state and patient outcome:
- Sheet 1 for the hospital unit
- Sheet 2 is a patient profile and nutritional procedure
- Sheets 3a and 3b contain questions related to the patient’s eating habits and individual nutrition intake on nutritionDay
- Patient Outcome Sheet
These questionnaires are available in 27 languages (Chinese in progress) to avoid linguistic barriers with patients and unit staff.
One month after nutritionDay worldwide (ICU 60days, nursing homes 180days) documentation for every patient is available, and participants receive a unit report, which provides a comparison of their unit with stations within the same area of specialization.
To receive further information about nutritionDay worldwide in hospitals, ICUs and nursing homes, please contact office@nutritionday.org or visit: www.nutritionday.org to participate and benefit.
